15 Belgian restaurants added to Michelin’s ‘Bib Gourmand’ list

No less than 15 restaurants in Belgium have been recognised by Michelin and added to their ‘Bib Gourmand’ list.

The judges were looking for restaurants that would serve an excellent meal for a reasonable price. Six of those, they found in Brussels, starting with Kline in the city centre. Popular neighbourhoods Ixelles, Uccle and Saint-Gilles were represented with Le Variétés, St Kilda and ANJU respectively. Schaerbeek’s Yoka Tomo and another one in Ixelles -- Epicerie Nomad -- make up the rest of the discoveries in the capital.

However, Belgium is more than just Brussels, of course. Bruges restaurants Onslow and Quatre Vins were also recognised for their affordable quality, and so was Furbetto in Heverlee (on the outskirts of Leuven).

As for Wallonia, six culinary trips are worth your while. Yes, just like Brussels, six Walloon restaurants have made it onto the list: You could even try Mona Lisa (Yvoir) and Le Confessionnal (Dinant) in the same weekend (or day?), as they are in neighbouring towns. If you’re feeling uncontrollably gourmand, just 15 minutes north of Yvoir you’ll find Au Phil des Saveurs in Bois-de-Villers.

Staying in the province of Namur, the town of Gesves is home to Garde Manger. If the city of Georges Simenon is more your thing, you can combine a visit to La Boverie in Liège with some exquisite dining at Enoteca or Magma.
