Remco Evenepoel, profile of a champion

07/08/2020

Remco Evenepoel has an impressive 2020 track record, winning the final victory in every event he competed in this year.

A faultless record: seven victories in seventeen days of racing; three wins in the three tours he took part in in 2020, podium finishes in classic races (San Sebastian 2019), championships (gold at the Euro CLM and silver at the Mondial CLM 2019) and successes in stage races (Tour de Belgium 2019, Vuelta a San Juan, Volta ao Algarve and Vuelta a Burgos 2020). His fame has earned him eulogistic nicknames such as "The little cannibal", "The machine", "El fenómeno"...

Remco Evenepoel, a young cyclist in his twenties, demonstrates a multi-faceted talent. He is physically compact and efficient, aided by enormous power in his thighs, lower back and pelvis.  At ease both on the road and in the mountains, in the heat and in the rain, he also has an excellent mental attitude that allows him to keep a cool head. He is not afraid of pressure, which makes him a true leader despite his young age.

Evenepoel rarely takes the time to savour his victories, as he is already throwing himself into the next. And he has a full schedule, with Poland, the Giro di Lombardia and the World Championships in Martigny before the Giro in October.

There are no guarantees, but he will be well supported, and this young sportsman will certainly provide us with more great victories before the autumn.
