VUB to partner with French and British universities

The Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) has signed an agreement with the French Université Paris Seine and the British University of Warwick. The VUB will cooperate more closely with these universities in the areas of research and education.

The partnership is the result of the European Council's call for the creation of a European Universities' Network by 2024. This would allow students, among other things, to study and graduate in various EU Member States. The VUB is leading the way.

Caroline Pauwels, Vice-Chancellor of the VUB, stated in a press release that she would like to build a network of young European universities with a strong focus on the urban context of which they are part. “In 2050, 70% of the world's population will live in cities. This will present several social, ecological and cosmopolitan challenges. The VUB aims to be a metropolitan university, taking on a pioneering role in the development of Brussels and, by extension, the European region. We will do this in collaboration with the Université Paris Seine and the University of Warwick,” says Pauwels.
