Time to visit the royal greenhouses

14 April 2023 - 07 May 2023
Brussels

As the yearly tradition goes, the Royal greenhouses of Laeken will be open to the public again from mid-April to early May.

Palm trees, azaleas, sub-tropical plants. These are just a few of the botanical wonders you can expect with a visit to the greenhouses. Visitors can marvel at all kinds of beautiful and exotic plants in the Palm Plateau, the Embarcadère, the Congo greenhouse, the Winter Garden and the Orangery.

Visitors can choose between a short route of about an hour and a half, or a longer one which takes around an hour longer. With this option, you get to see not only the greenhouses but also the gardens, which include a number of noteworthy vistas including temple ruins and a rose arch.

The short route can even be done at night, as there are nocturnes on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, as well as on Monday 1 May.

Did you know that the greenhouses were designed by Alphonse Balat? Maybe you’ve heard of him, but if you haven’t, you’ll certainly be familiar with his tutee, celebrated Belgian architect Victor Horta.

More information and tickets can be found here, so if you’re in Brussels around that time, book ahead and enjoy the beautiful décor! If you want to pack that day with even more fun sightseeing, be sure to swing by the nearby Atomium.
