Exhibition of Ukrainian artists in Brussels

19 October 2023 - 28 January 2024
Brussels

A new exhibition, In the Eye of the Storm, is bringing some of Ukraine’s top modernist artists together at the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium.

Art lovers can feast their eyes on more than 60 works of Ukrainian painters from between 1900 and 1930, a time when creative expression was in full bloom in the Eastern-European country. For context, this period included not only the first World War but also the creation of the Ukrainian Soviet Republic. In other words, these were years packed with meaningful and monumental change in the region.

Among the talented artists now proudly being displayed in Brussels, those who fare in artistic circles will instantly recognise names like Kazymyr Malevych, Alexandra Exter and El Lissitzky. They are complemented by lesser-known artists like Oleksandr Bohomazov, Sarah Shor and Mykhailo Boichuk.

The pieces are on loan from two Ukrainian institutions: the National Art Museum of Ukraine (NAMU) and the Museum of Theatre, Music and Cinema of Ukraine.

This exhibition is the perfect way to warm your heart this autumn and winter and to get inspired by great artists of times past. What are you waiting for? Get your tickets now!
