FAAM, the virtual museum of Flanders, kicks off

28/03/2024

No brick building would ever be big enough to house the enormous history and culture of Flanders. That’s why a contemporary virtual alternative was chosen. After three years, the Flanders All Around Museum (FAAM) has taken off. A museum that will permanently expand with new experiences on offer.

Various partners put their shoulders to the wheel in the last three years for a fascinating mammoth project: to make the Flemish moveable and immovable heritage accessible to everyone, with a few clicks on the website or app. The initiative for the biggest virtual museum of that part of the country came from the Flemish authorities. But the work is not finished. It will actually never be finished, because the goal is to continuously expand the rich selection of museums and heritage locations with new inspiring themes and stories. The accompanying regional map is thus constantly filling up. Besides the collections and stand-out works from the well-known museums, there is space for the less familiar – but not less captivating – heritage. You can learn more about it during editorial workshops, rendezvous days and meetup moments.

Pretty much all aspects of life from Adinkerke to Remersdaal are represented on the website: home life, living together, work, learning and discovery, food and beverages, fun, belief, doubt, games, augmented reality and events.

The digital world is an added value, but remember: the authentic experience is waiting for you on the spot.
