“Behind the Clouds”, Cecilia Verheyden's first feature film, has received accolades at the Washington DC International Film Festival. It scooped up the First Feature Award, the award for the best debut film.

The judges' evaluation included praising words for the screenplay, which offers a wonderful reinterpretation of the classic ‘love against all odds’ genre in a delicate story about love in later life. The music and Verheyden's directing skills were also highly applauded by the judges.

“Behind the Clouds” depicts the story of two lovers who lose touch after a break-up, but meet again 40 years later. As if no time has passed, the spark is rekindled, but this time they decide not to leave anything to chance anymore. None other than Flemish acting legends Chris Lomme and Jo Demeyere take on the leading roles and show that love in later life can be just as intense as youthful love.
