Hummus and falafel are more commonly associated with Middle Eastern dining. Both products are made with chickpeas. Normally, these chickpeas need a warmer climate than our Belgian shores to grow, but some Belgian students have found a solution to that.
Students from the Arteveldehogeschool in Ghent have teamed up with ILVO and Inagro, two research institutes, to make it possible. They put their heads together, resulting in a limited-edition but tasty Belgian hummus and falafel.
This once again goes to show that Belgium and scientific brilliance go together like two chickpeas in a pod!
