The first Belgian platform for climate start-ups is born

23/11/2023

Nine entrepreneurs are launching “BeClimate Hub”, the first Belgian community of climate start-ups whose objective is to accelerate Belgium’s ecological transition by making young companies with this priority more visible.

This initiative aims to bring together within a community the actors who want to accelerate Belgium's economic transition: start-ups, large companies, but also NGOs and public authorities.

Nine entrepreneurs have come together under the leadership of Stanislas van Wassenhove (Trans-mutation) with a view to accelerating Belgium's transition towards its own climate objectives, namely zero net emissions by 2050.

They start from the premise that many solutions exist but that they often face barriers that prevent them from scaling up and having a sufficiently broad impact.

The BeClimate Hub aims above all to make start-ups more visible to the potential represented, for example, by certain large companies which have set climate objectives, but do not always know how to begin their transition.

A "card" therefore brings together young companies whose main objective is that their activity contributes to reducing or capturing CO2 emissions, to preserving or restoring biodiversity, or to reducing pollution, i.e. three fields of action which are directly inspired by successive IPCC reports. This map includes start-ups active in the circular economy, mobility, construction and agriculture.

A fine initiative in terms of ecology!
