A dream has come true for the 22-year-old resident of Ghent, Nina Tonoli, who has been named soloist at the National Ballet of the Vienna State Opera. With this, the young ballerina occupies a leading position in the internationally famous company. And her projects for the future do not end there.

The wind has turned for the young ballerina Nina Tonoli. Having qualified with honours from the Royal School of Ballet in Antwerp and the Royal School of Ballet in London, she is currently the best known ballerina in Belgium. Following her studies, the young dancer joined the National Ballet of the Vienna State Opera in 2012 as a member of the corps de ballet thanks to Manuel Legris, a former lead dancer with the Paris Opera. In 2014, she was named demi-soloist before being promoted in June 2016, following the Nureyev Gala, to the position of soloist.

Nina Tonoli recently started the 2016-2017 ballet season in Vienna with the role of the young slave, Gulnare, in "Le Corsaire". The performance is choreographed by Manuel Legris. Other leading roles and soloist roles in her repertoire include the Nut Cracker and Swan Lake.

The inhabitant of Ghent has not finished surprising us. She wants to rise to the very highest position by becoming principal dancer. Also, she is open to the idea of being invited to join other equally prestigious ballet companies, such as the ones in New York, London and Paris.
