Erfgoedplus.be wins an ‘Oscar’ for heritage

The heritage database known as ‘erfgoedplus.be’ is among the prizewinners of the ‘European Union Prize for Cultural Heritage’. Each year the European heritage organisation Europa Nostra awards prizes in four different categories to organisations carrying out exceptional projects related to cultural heritage.

The Belgian heritage database erfgoedplus.be was selected, along with 38 other projects, as a winner of the prestigious European Union Prize for Cultural Heritage. More than 200 projects from over 18 different countries competed for a prize. Erfgoedplus.be won its award in the category ‘education, training and awareness-raising’. The award ceremony is to be held on 15 May in the Finnish city of Turku and will be attended by the European Cultural Commissioner, Tibor Navracsics, and Plácido Domingo, as President of Europa Nostra.

Erfgoedplus.be makes it possible to look up cultural heritage in Limburg and Flemish Brabant online. The site works together with the provinces of Limburg and Flemish Brabant, the city of Leuven and various associations involved in managing heritage, in order to offer the best possible result. The jury has praised erfgoedplus.be for its exceptional contribution to the documentation of Belgian heritage. It is a real honour for erfgoedplus.be to receive this prize, as the award is considered as the 'Oscar' when it comes to cultural heritage.
