A fabulous biennial near Charleroi

28 October 2023 - 12 November 2023
Châtelet

The Baron Pierre Paulus de Châtelet art biennial has a promising lineup of artists ready for its 14th edition.

No less than 17 artists living in Belgium were selected, by an expert jury made up of authorities in the country’s cultural and artistic circles. Whether they were the next great painters, sculptors, engravers, or photographers, whether they were talented with ceramics or gifted with a pencil, any Belgian of any age could apply to show off their best work.

In this case, it matters what is deemed the best work, as the top three lucky artists will walk away € 1.000, €500 and €250 respectively to help them pursue their artistic careers. They will anxiously await Friday 27 October at 19:00, when the prizes will be awarded.

Visitors will be able to admire the works of Lucie Antoine, Manon Bouvry, Françoise Chatelain, François Dauchot, Bernadette Demoulin, Michel Fabry, Françoise Giaiotto, David Gouthiere, Valérie Horgnies, Eric Juzen, Anne Lahaye, Othmane Mekki-Berrada, Mathilde Remy, Daniel Renders, Gerda Van Damme and Julien Wallemacq.

We wish them all the best of luck!

Besides stimulating local artists both financially and by presenting to the greater public, the biennial wants to carry on the artistic tradition of the Châtelet area (which is located just outside of Charleroi) and promote art in general. Conveniently, as with many good things in life, the exhibition is totally free.
