Climbing European Championships: two silver medals for Belgium

04/12/2020

Fantastic performances by Chloé Caulier and Nicolas Collin at the European Climbing Championships. They both brought home a silver medal from Moscow, and are now awaiting the next Olympics in Tokyo.

The 2020 European Climbing Championships are held every two years and took place at the end of November in Moscow. There were four different disciplines on the programme for both men and women: lead, bouldering, speed and combined.

Beaten only by Russia's Viktoriia Meshkova, Chloé Caulier, a 24-year-old from Jurbise, took second place in the European boulder event.

Nicolas Collin from Brussels won the silver medal in the "lead" discipline, just behind the Swiss climber Sascha Lehmann.

These are good results for a Belgian climbing delegation already dreaming of the Tokyo Olympics, as this discipline will be on the Olympic programme for the first time!
