The 28-year-old Eefje Depoortere, better known in the games industry as ‘Sjokz’, is one of the top 30 talents in the United States in the ‘Games’ category according to Forbes business magazine.

After gaining her Master’s degree in History and Journalism, Depoortere wanted the countless hours that she put into such games as Unreal Tournament to become her career, an ambition she achieved, and she quickly became a commentator at the Electronic Sports League (eSports). She is also the presenter of shows about League of Legends, the most popular video game in the world. The free game attracts 67 million online players every month. Millions of others follow the matches on YouTube and Twitch on their computer.

Around these professional competitions, American gaming company Riot Games is building up online shows and tournaments in great halls and sport stadiums. For her first presentation in a great hall at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Depoortere had the opportunity to entertain 12,000 spectators, and she welcomed 45,000 fans to Seoul for the final of the League of Legends world championship.

Depoortere is also an active gamer, having been a competitor in the Unreal Tournament and won different tournaments with the Belgian national team.
