Bill Viola lights up La Boverie in Liège
The Liège-based museum La Boverie is the scene of a captivating exhibition by American visual artist Bill Viola.
Bill Viola Sculptor of Time, as the exhibition is called, is the first exhibition of such a scale exhibiting the artist’s work in Belgium.
Viola’s work is full of paradoxes; grandiose and intimate, complex and yet accessible, all in the same package. All of this makes sense when you consider his continuous express exploration of dualism.
The exhibition boasts eighteen of the artist’s works, spanning three decades, making it an excellent introduction to the man whose portfolio includes four hours of compelling visual footage accompanying Richard Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde back in 2004.
