Some Folon wrapped in Horta in Schaerbeek
You might have seen some of his sculptures around Brussels, but that’s only part of the events in honour of Jean-Michel Folon, who would have turned 90 this year.
Turn your attention if you please to Maison Autrique in Schaerbeek, one of Victor Horta’s first exploits. The building is worth a visit in and of itself, and what better excuse than to visit Folon Insolite.
Over the course of half a year, you can discover a little-known side to Folon in an exhibition made to measure. Visitors should expect objects and works of art that show Jean-Michel Folon’s endless, intriguing, abundant creativity in this collaborative effort with the Fondation Folon.
That foundation was created by the artist himself on the Solvay estate in La Hulpe in 2000, just five years before his passing. To this day, it remains a cultural highlight with all kinds of exhibitions related to the late creative genius.
