DEME has been successful in winning new African contracts worth around 125 million euros. This Belgian dredging group will be setting to work in Angola, Benin, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Liberia and Nigeria.

In Angola, DEME (Dredging, Environmental and Marine Engineering) was awarded the five-year contract for maintenance to the gas terminal in Soyo. In Benin, the dredger is to carry out coastal protection work in Cotonou. And, from the end of May 2017, it will be helping to extend the port of Tema, the largest sea port in Ghana.

On top of that, DEME also won its third consecutive contract for dredging work in the port of Abidjan on the Ivory coast. This is also what they will be doing in the Freeport of Monrovia, Liberia's most important commercial port facility.

Finally, DEME has also been selected to carry out the Nigerian project Maiyegun Waterfront. By reclaiming land and raising the height of the beach, the dredger will allow the building of new homes, a commercial centre and leisure facilities. In addition, DEME has received a number of assignments in the port of Lagos.

DEME, a subsidiary of the Belgian industrial group CFE, is one of the biggest hydraulics companies in the world. In April 2017, the company also won a variety of dredging contracts in Germany, France, the United Kingdom and Spain totalling approximately 115 million euros. Last year DEME was named Belgium's most attractive employer.
