Young Belgian becomes karting world champion
Despite recently turning just 15, Thibaut Ramaekers already knows how it feels to win the ultimate award in motorsport.

This young Belgian, aged just 15, was crowned Karting World Champion on the Swedish circuit at Kristianstad. A fantastic achievement for a driver who had recently finished runner-up in the Champions of the Future Euro Series earlier in his young career.
To bag himself this prestigious award, the Chimay native (province of Hainaut) had no choice other than to put in a strong performance in the final. And perform well he did, showing great determination at the start of this decisive race from his position of 5th on the grid. "Given the performance I'd shown since the start of the meeting, I was feeling quite confident", the young driver explained. "We'd won three of our five qualifying rounds and we'd just finished second in Super Heat A."
Despite falling back to 6th after the first lap, Thibaut Ramaekers quickly started picking off his competitors one by one. He took the lead on the 8th of 25 laps, and would stay in front for the rest of the race, giving Belgium its second world title in three seasons. The young driver Dries Van Langendonck (aged 13 at the time) had also been crowned FIA Karting World Champion in the OK-Junior category in 2023.
Well done for an exceptional performance from this young driver, coached by the Royal Automobile Club of Belgium!
