World Championship gold for Belgian cheerleaders
Those wondering which country dominates the sport of cheerleading need look no further than Belgium, whose team took gold at the world championship in Orlando.
Give us a B! Give us an E! And so on. Belgium’s All Girl Elite team danced, yelled and pom-pommed the competition away with an incomparable routine. Their wildest dreams came true as these ladies cheerleaded their way straight to the final.
They were judged on the complexity of their routine, the technical prowess and their synchronicity.
Let there be no mistake that Belgium is now on the map in what has recently become an Olympic discipline. Besides the gold medal – did we mention it was their first participation in the world championships? --, Team Belgium also took home a silver medal in the Coed Elite category – meaning women and men cheerleading together.
The sport has been gaining popularity in Belgium and, as of the world title, our country has over thirty cheerleading clubs.
