Vincent Kompany and Bayern Munich take the title

22/04/2026
He was a phenomenal defender, and he’s proving consistently to be a phenomenal team manager: Vincent Kompany has led Bayern Munich to its 35th title in the Bundesliga.

And so continues the success story of Vincent Kompany, long a stronghold for the Belgian Red Devils’ defensive line. He started his managerial career where he started as a player, at RSC Anderlecht. After a stint at English football club Burnley, Kompany signed on as Bayern Munich’s manager in 2023 and has positively bloomed.

Many have compared Kompany’s managerial style to that of his former coach Pep Guardiola, a style based on passing and ball possession. That style seems to serve him well, as he’s led his team to finish at the top for the second year in a row, this time with five matches to go until the last day.

They could have secured the Bundesliga title by simply tying, but if Vincent Kompany is one thing, it’s a winner: he doesn’t settle for less than the best result, always getting as much as possible out of his squad.

Congratulations to Vincent Kompany, who will go down in history not only as one of the best defenders in modern times, but also as one of the best football managers of his day.
