The 12th edition of the World Games was held in the Chinese city of Chengdu, bringing together 4,000 athletes in 37 non-Olympic disciplines for this year's event.

The Belgian delegation came 16th in the final rankings with a total of 16 medals, including 5 gold, 5 silver and 6 bronze.

A young skater from Ostend, Fran Vanhoutte, was particularly impressive, bringing home 4 medals in the various Speed Skating competitions she took part in (including 1 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze).

Other Belgian athletes to top the podium were Florian Bayili in Ju-Jitsu, Yannick Michiels in Orienteering, Brent Deklerck in Trampoline and the duo of Maysae Bouhouch and Silke Macharis in Acrobatic Gymnastics.

Silver medals were also won by more Belgian athletes in team sports such as indoor Korfball and the mixed team Tug of War (580 kg), as well as individually by Arnaud Dely in Duathlon and Sonita Muluh in Powerlifting (+84 kg).

Belgium also took home bronze medals thanks to the beach Korfball team, the Mixed Duathlon Relay with Jeanne Dupont and Arnaud Dely, as well as Vincent Bierinckx and Jeanne Dupont in the individual Duathlon.

Congratulations to the Belgian delegation for these fine performances!
