Competing in the under-73 kg category, Sarah Chaâri defeated Russia’s Anastasiia Kosmycheva in the final of the Taekwondo World Championships in Taiyuan, China.
The 21-year-old Belgian therefore retained the title she won last year in Wuxi, China, and added a third world crown to her impressive record of wins (2022, 2025 and 2026).
Bronze medallist at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games (in the under-67 kg category), the Belgian taekwondo athlete (or ‘taekwondoist’, to use the official term for a practitioner of this Korean martial art) also became European champion this year for the third time in her career.
World number one Sarah Chaâri has enjoyed an outstanding season at the highest level, winning major tournaments on the international circuit such as the Fujairah Open (United Arab Emirates), the Skopje Open (North Macedonia), the Spanish Open and the WT President’s Cup Europe in Nuremberg (Germany).
What an impressive record!
