Motocross: Lucas Coenen wins the German Grand Prix
Belgium’s Lucas Coenen claimed victory in the seventh round of the Motocross World Championship in the prestigious MXGP category.
MXGP (Motocross Grand Prix) is the top class of the Motocross World Championship. Governed by the FIM (Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme), the competition brings together the world’s best riders on powerful 450cc four-stroke bikes across a 19-round season.
The German Grand Prix took place in Teutschenthal, a municipality in Saxony-Anhalt. During this seventh round of the season, Lucas Coenen confirmed his dominance by winning both races on the program. The Belgian rider left no chance to his rivals and logically secured the overall Grand Prix classification. He finished ahead of Italy’s Andrea Adamo, while Spain’s Ruben Fernandez completed the podium.
In the world championship standings, the Belgian now holds a significant lead over his main competitors. With 344 points, he is already 31 points ahead of Dutch rider Jeffrey Herlings (313).
It is also worth noting the performance of the Coenen brothers, as young Sacha has also taken the lead in the MX2 championship. This category serves as a stepping stone to the premier class and is reserved for riders aged 15 to 23, using bikes equipped with either two-stroke engines (100cc to 125cc) or four-stroke engines (175cc to 250cc).
The paddock now turns its attention to the Latvian Grand Prix, where Coenen will aim to continue his momentum and further cement his dominance.
