At the Belgian Cats’ victory over Australia in Berlin, Julie Allemand became the leading assist provider in the history of the Women’s World Cup since FIBA started keeping official statistics in 1994.
Thanks to her seven assists in the game against the Australians, the 30-year-old from Liège has now taken her World Cup tally to 111. A record set over the course of her performances in the 2018, 2022 and 2026 editions.
The Belgian basketball player has now broken two world records: the one held by Spain’s Laia Palau, who notched up 108 assists in five appearances, and the one held by the American Sue Bird, a four-time world champion who racked up 107 assists during her international career.
Known for setting up chances rather than shooting, Julie Allemand has established herself as one of the best playmakers in international basketball. An outstanding player who embodies the collective approach of the Belgian Cats, the reigning European champions.
It's a safe bet that Julie Allemand will add to her record even more at this World Cup!
