A Historic Belgian Delegation for the Winter Olympics

No less than thirty Belgian athletes competing across nine disciplines will aim to leave a mark at the 2026 Winter Olympic Games opening in Milan and Cortina, Italy.

Belgium is sending a record delegation of 30 athletes to the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics, held from 6 to 22 February.
This marks an all‑time high for Belgium at the Winter Games, surpassing the previous record of 27 athletes set at the 1936 Games in Garmisch‑Partenkirchen.
Team Belgium includes seven French speakers, three German speakers and twenty Dutch speakers. Women’s representation has notably doubled compared with Beijing 2022, reaching a total of 16 women and 14 men.
Altogether, Belgian athletes will compete in nine sports:
- Biathlon (8): Eve Bouvard (individual, women’s relay), Lotte Lie (individual, women’s relay, mixed relay), Marisa Emonts (women’s relay), Maya Cloetens (individual, women’s relay, mixed relay), Florent Claude (individual, men’s relay, mixed relay), Marek Mackels (men’s relay), Sam Parmantier (men’s relay) and Thierry Langer (individual, men’s relay, mixed relay);
- Bobsleigh (1): Kelly Van Petegem (women’s monobob);
- Figure Skating (2): Loena Hendrickx (women’s individual) and Nina Pinzarrone (women’s individual);
- Speed Skating (6): Fran Vanhoutte (mass start, women’s team pursuit, reserve for 500 m & 1,000 m), Isabelle van Elst (1,000 m, 1,500 m, women’s team pursuit), Sandrine Tas (3,000 m, 5,000 m, mass start, women’s team pursuit, reserve for 1,500 m), Bart Swings (5,000 m, 10,000 m, mass start), Indra Médard (mass start, reserve for 1,500 m) and Mathias Vosté (1,000 m, 1,500 m);
- Short Track (6): Hanne Desmet (individual 500 m, 1,000 m, 1,500 m, mixed relay), Tineke den Dulk (individual 1,500 m, mixed relay), Stijn Desmet (individual 500 m, 1,000 m, 1,500 m, men’s relay, mixed relay), Ward Petré (men’s relay, mixed relay), Adriaan Dewagtere (men’s relay) and Warre Van Damme (men’s relay);
- Skeleton (1): Kim Meylemans (women’s individual);
- Alpine Skiing (3): Armand Marchant (men’s slalom), Sam Maes (men’s giant slalom, men’s slalom) and Kim Vanreusel (women’s slalom);
- Ski Mountaineering (1): Maximilien Drion (men’s sprint);
- Snowboard – Freestyle (2): Evy Poppe (women’s big air, women’s slopestyle) and Sky Remans (women’s big air, women’s slopestyle).
