Hélène Connart wins WBC International boxing title in super lightweight category
Winning by technical KO, the Belgian athlete earned her first international boxing belt.

Competing in the WBC International championship, in the super lightweight category (-63.502 kg), whose title spot was vacant, Hélène Connart defeated Poland's Adrianna Jędrzejczyk by technical KO in the fifth round.
In a ring where the entire audience was rooting for her opponent, the athlete from Tubize won her first international boxing belt at the age of 36. This victory in Warsaw, which may appear to have come quite late, can be explained by her recent transition to the noble art, after building up an impressive list of titles in kickboxing.
This boxing fight – the fifth of her career – saw her facing a solid Polish opponent who had been unbeaten in her past four fights. But the Pole was quickly overpowered by her Belgian rival who, despite her smaller size, knew how to hurt her opponent from the host nation, breaking through the distance between them and piling on consistent pressure with several hooks.
Just 50 seconds into the first round, Hélène Connart achieved the first knockdown of her Polish opponent. The Belgian then continued to consistently undermine Jędrzejczyk, culminating in the fifth round when, after seeing his charge knocked to the floor once again, the Pole's coach decided to throw in the towel to end the fight, initially scheduled for eight rounds of two minutes.
Congratulations to Belgium's bold and brilliant boxer!
