Gold for Maxime Carabin in Paris
Belgian paralympic athlete Maxime Carabin has gifted Belgium its first gold medal at the 2024 Paralympic Games.
Expectations were high for Maxime Carabin at the final of the 400 metres in the T52 category, and the 23-year-old Belgian from Liège knew what needed to be done.
Like the multiple-time world champion he is, he showed his dominance. In 55”10, he showed the other athletes who’s boss and arrived a good second ahead of the athlete who took the silver medal. His time was just shy of the paralympic record of 54”48, set by...Maxime Carabin, earlier that day.
That was not the only good paralympic news for Belgium: 40-year-old para-cyclist Ewoud Vromant from Herzele (East Flanders) raced his way to a silver medal in the Men's C2 3000m Individual Pursuit.
Big congratulations to Maxime and Ewoud for their medals! May our 29 paralympic athletes all accomplish their goals at the Games!
