In Aachen, for the first time, the Belgian delegation was represented in each of the six disciplines featured at the World Equestrian Championships.

In dressage, a medal was expected from Justin Verboomen, given his dominance on the international stage with Zonik Plus over the past year. However, the pair, reigning double European champions, unfortunately finished just outside the medals. In the team Grand Prix event, the Belgian dressage riders also claimed an impressive fourth place, securing qualification for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

In team show jumping, Belgium, already crowned European champion in 2025, won a magnificent silver medal. In the individual competition, Thibeau Spits was also named World Championship silver medallist. The 25-year-old rider from Antwerp delivered two faultless rounds in the final aboard Impress-K, an eleven-year-old stallion.

In the four-in-hand driving discipline, the Belgian drivers once again lived up to their reputation. Dries Degrieck finished second in the individual World Championship standings after the three phases of the competition and also helped Belgium secure a place on the podium with a team bronze medal.

An outstanding achievement for our Belgian equestrian athletes!
