Fine Belgian performances at the World Para Athletics Championships
Belgium's para-athletes excelled at the New Delhi World Championships, bringing home six medals, including four golds and two silvers.

Peter Genyn shone in New Delhi, winning gold in both the 100 m and 200 m T51 categories. Another Belgian, Roger Habsch, also finished second in the 200 m race.
"It's impossible to top these two titles; I'm delighted," summed up 48-year-old Peter Genyn, quoted in a press release from the Belgian Paralympic Committee. "I got off to a really good start and the fact that I closed the gap to Roger so quickly gave me confidence. It's a great confirmation of my current form. I'll have a rest over the next few days before getting back into training. I can see myself going all the way to the Los Angeles Paralympics in 2028 before retiring from international competition."
In the women's competition, Léa Bayekula also won 400 m and 800 m gold in the T54 category. Favourite for this race, she took the lead right from the start and stayed ahead all the way to the finish line, taking home a magnificent double gold medal.
"I'm super proud of this second world title. A bit tired, but very, very happy," Léa said, smiling after her race. "My performance in the heats this morning was a very good sign, and it was confirmed in the final. Despite what happened yesterday in the 100 m, I was able to bounce back and move on. My personal life hasn't been easy over the last few months, and these championships have proven to me that I'm still standing, even though I'm actually sitting down, of course," she concluded with a sense of relief.
Magnificent performances from these extraordinary athletes!
