European Cross Country Championships: Belgium takes silver in the men's and bronze in the women's event
Belgium won two team medals, thanks to the fine performances of several runners, both in the men's and women's categories.
This year's European Cross Country Championships, featuring races on foot over hedges, hills and streams, were held in Antalya, Turkey's fifth-largest city.
Although no Belgian runner made it to the individual podium places, some fine overall performances enabled Belgium to reach second place in the European men's rankings thanks to Isaac Kimeli (4th), John Heymans (15th) and Robin Hendrix (18th), finishing behind Spain but ahead of Great Britain in third.
In the senior women's category, Belgium took a wonderful bronze medal in the team rankings of this 30th edition of the European Cross Country Championships, finishing behind Italy and Great Britain thanks to Jana Van Lent (5th), Lisa Rooms (18th), Victoria Warpy (23rd) and Roxane Cleppe (38th).
Two excellent podium finishes for Belgium!
