After eliminating France in the semi-final, the Belgian team narrowly lost to Italy in the final of the UEFA European Under-17 Championship.

Despite an outstanding run, Belgium was defeated in the U17 Euro final by Italy after a cruel match decided on penalties. The young Red Devils, who came very close to securing their first continental title, were equalized in stoppage time before losing in the decisive shootout.

Boosted by their semi-final victory over France (2–1), the Belgian side had already made history by reaching the final of the competition for the first time, in their tenth participation.

Until now, the Belgians had repeatedly fallen just short of the final, reaching the semi-finals in 2007, 2015, 2018, and 2025 without managing to go further.

Meanwhile, Italy confirmed their status by securing another title. The young Italians, who defeated Spain in the semi-final on penalties (1–1, 4–2 on penalties), add a new trophy to their record, having already won the competition three times, most recently in 2024.
