A Belgian vice-champion of Europe at the 800M in Apeldoorn
The athletics season has begun. In this new edition, 25 athletes competed to proudly represent the colours of Belgium.

Eliott Crestan brilliantly took the silver medal at the European Indoor Athletics Championships in Apeldoorn, in the Netherlands. The Belgian athlete, accustomed to the 800m, gave a remarkable performance, once again. The Belgian has indeed already won twice the bronze medal for the 800m; at the 2023 Euro indoor championships in Istanbul and at the 2024 World Championships in Glasgow. This time, he triumphed on the second step of the podium.
The 26-year-old from Namur was well ahead of the pack but was finally edged out by the Dutchman Samuel Chapple. A tight score with only 4 hundredths of a second separated them at the finish line. This victory is highly symbolic for Belgium as it is its second medal in this European championship.
Eliott Crestan is now preparing for his next objective: the World Indoor Championships in Nanjing, in China. After bronze and silver, will he get gold?
