The International Cycling Union (UCI) has selected Flanders as the organiser of the 2021 World Championships. The Flemish government will dedicate 3.25 million euros to the event.

Cycling is very popular in Flanders and will once again be the centre of attention in the north of the country in 2021. The 11 competitions in the UCI Road World Championships will take place in Flanders from 18 to 26 September 2021. The programme includes elite races, time trials and under 23 and junior races for both men and women. Eleven rainbow jerseys will be awarded at the end of these events.

The non-profit association WK 2021 will be responsible for organising the championships. This will be the tenth event to be held in Belgium and will be just as popular with the public. The Flemish government has also taken the decision to release 3.25 million euros to support the organisation of the event.
