A promising step forward in the fight against cancer
The Université catholique de Louvain (UCLouvain) is paving the way for a new cancer treatment thanks to an innovative inhibitor.

Researchers at UCLouvain and the University of Lille have discovered LIBX-A401, an innovative inhibitor that could revolutionise the fight against cancer. This major step opens up new prospects for increasingly effective and precise cancer treatments.
Normally, the immune system acts as a defence mechanism against 'abnormal' cells, including cancer cells. However, for some patients, this natural protection is not enough. This breakthrough would help the immune system to fight cancer cells more effectively.
This discovery is part of a research programme aiming to better understand the immune system. The tests carried out to date have shown very encouraging results. The next step will be to test this method in clinical trials to assess the effectiveness of the treatment in humans.
