Thanks to their victory against Estonia, the Belgian national football team finished top of their qualifying group for the next World Cup in Qatar.
The Devils started out favourites in their qualifying group. So it is no real surprise that they have earned their ticket to the next World Cup even before they play their eighth and last game against Wales.
With an easy 3-1 win against Estonia, Roberto Martinez's side notched up their sixth Group E match, with just one draw, away against the Czech Republic, and confirmed their first-place automatic qualification for Qatar. Their last game, a 1-1 draw with Wales, also kept the Belgians at the top of the FIFA rankings.
The Belgians will be taking part in their third consecutive World Cup, after Brazil in 2014 and Russia in 2018. For the record, the Red Devils were eliminated in the quarter-finals (beaten 1-0 by Argentina) and in the semi-finals (beaten 1-0 by France) at the last two events.
The Belgians still have a number of warm-up matches to play before the start of the World Cup, which will take place from 21 November to 18 December 2022. The group draw for the finals is scheduled for 1 April 2022.
Considered one of the most talented teams on the planet, although still waiting for a real accolade, this Belgian team will be deemed to be one of the big favourites in Qatar.
