In mid-November, during the catering industry trade fair, Horeca Expo held in Ghent, the 2019 Michelin Guide Belgium & Luxembourg revealed its winners, awarding or removing its stars for Belgian restaurants.
This was not only the most anticipated event for the chefs, but also the most feared: the ceremony for new stars and demoted restaurants. Indeed, the little red book is a sacred guide for food lovers, which is why these stars are enormously important in the eyes of the best chefs.
After a long wait, the verdict was in, this year, the Michelin Guide Belgium & Luxembourg totalled 139 starred restaurants. In 2017 it had 144. Even so, there are 5 two-star restaurants in our capital: Bon Bon in Woluwe-Saint-Pierre, Le Chalet de la ForĂȘt in Uccle and Comme Chez Soi, Sea Grill and La Villa in the Sky in Brussels.
Restaurants who have earned a second star include La Table de Maxime in Paliseul and the La Paix restaurant in Anderlecht. However, the one and only restaurant to have won the unanimity of the jury and a third star is none other than Hof van Cleve, the restaurant Peter Goossens in Kruishoutem, also awarded by the Gault & Millau.
