BESIX has just been awarded the contract for the construction of yet another mega-tower in Dubai. The 330-metre-high skyscraper will be located in the new Uptown Dubai district.
Construction of the 78-floor building, called the "Uptown Tower" will start in early July 2019. The building will offer an exceptional view over the city's seafront and skyline.
At the head of the project is BESIX, the largest construction firm in Belgium. Active for more than 50 years in Dubai, it has also built the famous 830-metre "Burj Khalifa", the tallest building in the world.
The "Uptown Tower" has been designed by the famous architecture firm Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill, which develops sustainable and energy-efficient architecture. One facade of the LEED-certified (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) mega-tower will be covered with multiform glass allowing natural daylight into the interior spaces. It will include a luxury hotel, shops, apartments and a health and well-being centre.
The first part of a future complex of 7 towers, the "Uptown Tower", will open in 2020 in the new up-and-coming district of Uptown Dubai.
A new Belgian architectural signature with great promise, in the sky of the capital of the United Arab Emirates.
