Young Belgians stand out from the crowd at Euroskills 2016

Belgian delegates were successful in winning six medals and took nine awards for excellent craftsmanship at Euroskills 2016. Our country ended 8th in the 28 countries participating in the European championships for manual, technical and technological professions.

Every two years hundreds of young Europeans measure up at Euroskills, the European championship for manual, technical and technological professions. This year 25 young people were selected to represent Belgium. These participated in competitions across 23 different professional categories. The national team ended up taking fifteen prizes. The young Belgians received six medals and were given nine awards for excellent craftsmanship.

Gold medals were given to Ronja Fell and Loïc Gluckmann in the category fashion technology, to Loïc Forthomme in mechanical engineering design and to Anthony Goka for refrigeration and air-conditioning. In addition Leroy De Ryck won the silver medal in the welding category and Anthony Mercier took bronze in CNC milling. In doing so Belgium ended 8th in the final ranking of the 28 participating countries. Next year Belgian delegates hope to continue their achievements at the world championships in Abu Dhabi.
