WHY SETTLE IN BELGIUM?

18/10/2019

One of the first answers to this question could be Belgian beer, which is recognised worldwide, or the now famous Belgian Fries, or even chocolate. But what reasons do foreigners give for moving to Belgium?

These come directly from the Daily Telegraph website, which examined the reasons why nearly 90 British people settle here each year.

Our country's major asset remains its social dimension: very affordable and high quality healthcare and education inevitably attract foreigners.

But Belgium will also appeal to adventurers. First of all, it is very easy to visit our flat country due to its small size, its rail network and its many cycle paths. Secondly, as it is part of the Schengen Area, going on holiday abroad is very easy!

Lovers of cultural activities will also be delighted! Between Tomorrowland, Antwerp and its fashion districts, which are as good as those in London or Paris, the comic strip culture and our art festivals, there is always something to do or see. And there is not only Belgo-Belgian culture to discover! As a multicultural country, with 17% of our population foreign born, different traditions can be found on every street corner - or by pushing open the door of many restaurants.

Add to that a certain ease for multilingualism.

Certainly, like any country, ours has its little flaws. You will need an umbrella, or you can rely on our sense of humour to brighten up your rainy days!
