Trappist beer from Chimay...in a can?
Never before has a Trappist beer been sold in a can, but there’s a first time for everything: Chimay is paving the way.

Belgium boasts five abbeys with authentic Trappist products: Chimay, Orval, Rochefort, Westmalle, and Westvleteren. The first-named abbey has been brewing since 1862, so they should know a thing or two about their product. As it turns out, “cans offer better protection from light exposure, thus preserving the beer’s quality,” so says the brewery’s CEO.
Not all of Chimay’s beers will be available in canned form, though: only the Gold, Red and Triple have been canned. The abbey’s stronger beers are still only sold in glass bottles.
By the way, did you know that there is a vertable trappist trail in Wallonia connecting Chimay, Orval and Rochefort? That’s a 290-kilometre-long pilgrimage that could beer its fruits, don’t you think? See what we did there?
Always remember that if you do consume this Belgian savoir-faire, you should do so responsibly.
