Time Out ranks Bruges' Christmas market(s) among the loveliest in Europe

The influential worldwide magazine for tourism and lifestyle Time Out should know. It considers Winter Glow 2025 in Bruges to be top-level Christmas entertainment in Europe.

Between 21 November and 4 January, 2026, no less than two Christmas markets will provide the typical charm and cosiness of the year-end period. With the 83m belfry tower and the many stepped gables in the background, you can savour the traditional ambience at Grote Markt, while browsing for traditional and local goodies on Simon Stevinplein.

Don't miss doing the MACHINA LUMINA beforehand, a fascinating light experience walk along a 3.5 km trail and featuring a handful of locations across the city centre. Step by step, you discover how light is formed. And while you are out and about, why not head to Koning Albert I Park for a (n)ice time on the 525 m² covered skating rink with real, top-quality ice? If you're struggling to stand up, don't worry. You'll land on your feet in IJsgloed, the adjacent winter bar where local products from Bruges' entrepreneurs and many kinds of coffee, wine and champagne are guaranteed to cheer you up.

Start the countdown to 21 November.
