Ten Best Brussels Chocolatiers According to Tartine et Boterham

01/04/2026

Chocolate remains an unrivalled flagship product of Belgian gastronomy. Recently, the non-profit organisation Tartine et Boterham put the spotlight on the ten best artisans in the Brussels chocolate landscape. A delicious overview.

Belgium counts no fewer than 1,800 shops that exclusively sell chocolate, of which around 150 are located in the Brussels‑Capital Region. And of the approximately 200 artisan chocolatiers in the country, 20 practise their craft in that same region. Quite impressive figures.

From those 20 chocolate wizards, an independent jury of experts selected the 10 absolute top talents, guided on one hand by the quality, taste and creativity of their creations, and on the other by their craftsmanship and passion. These chocolatiers are: Bomma Flora, Frédéric Blondeel, Laurent Gerbaud, Arthur Amblard, Yasushi Sasaki, L Chocolat, Xocolate, La Maison du Cacao, Jérôme Grimonpon, and Concept Chocolate. Two of them, Arthur Amblard and Frédéric Blondeel, received special distinctions. The former won the Discovery 2026 Award, for his sugar‑free pralines suitable for diabetics, and the latter received an honorary award for over 30 years of pioneering work in Belgium as a fervent supporter of the bean‑to‑bar movement — producing chocolate directly from cocoa beans.

Tartine et Boterham aims in the long term to become the leading ambassador for the sweet crafts of bakers, pastry chefs, chocolatiers and ice cream makers.
