Reading sessions for children in the park
Until August 22, children between the ages of 3 and 10 are invited to fun and engaging reading sessions in various parks in Brussels and Wallonia. A welcome change perhaps for the sometimes excessive screen time.
Several municipalities of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation are participating in the initiative. They take books from their public library and bring them to some public place. A playground, a sandbox, a park ... or any other place where children congregate. There, under the shade of a tree or on the lawn, a librarian or animator reads to them. Relaxing, instructive, free and with the intention of attracting children to the permanent library after August 22.
Each location is sponsored by the nearby public library that is a partner in the project. It will also serve as a fallback site should it rain or get unusually hot during this dry summer.
