There are four Belgian establishments among the top ten in the world, according to the ranking of the best restaurants that glorify vegetables, which has just been published by the We're Smart Green Guide.

In second place in the world is Vrijmoed in Ghent. Its chef, Michaël Vrijmoed, recently won an award for the "best vegetarian menu in Benelux" from the famous Gault & Millau Guide. This restaurant also has two Michelin stars.

Graanmarkt 13 in Antwerp moves up to seventh place. Chef Seppe Nobels, who earned his stripes working with Michelin-starred chefs such as Wout Bru and Gianni Brunelli, offers vegetarian menus in his restaurant, located in the basement of a magnificent residence that also includes an art gallery and a shop.

humus x hortense in Brussels, ranked eighth, was voted "best vegan restaurant in the world in 2019." Its chef, Nicolas Decloedt, learned his art in the best restaurants in Europe (Mugaritz, In de Wulf, Bon Bon). His association with botanist and gardener Dries Delanote led to him being voted best vegetable chef by Gault & Millau in 2018.

Lastly Arabelle Meirlaen in Marchin finished in ninth place in this world ranking. The uniqueness of this Michelin-starred chef is based on a cuisine in harmony with the seasons. Gourmets can thus be assured that 75% of the products on their plate come from her own garden.
