The Largest Open-Air Restaurant on the Belgian Coast

07/05/2026

Around twenty restaurateurs are joining forces to create the largest open-air restaurant on the Belgian coast during the Ostendaise North Sea Food Fest.

On June 27 and 28, the Zeeheldenplein in Ostend will be transformed, for an entire weekend, into a new gastronomic hotspot of Belgium.

Unlike a traditional food festival, this event will bring together around twenty restaurateurs whose dishes will have been previously tasted and selected by a jury from the renowned gastronomic guide Gault&Millau.

The guiding theme of this grand seaside gastronomic banquet is to showcase a cuisine based on North Sea fish and other local products. Among the must‑try highlights announced are the iconic shrimp croquette and Ostend oysters.

This 2026 edition will remain firmly focused on tasting, with an offer that, according to the organizers, “aims for greater clarity.”

A wonderful gastronomic weekend in prospect!
