Belgian bubbles get a new name: BelBul
If you’re thirsting for some fine sparkling wine of Belgian savoir-faire, you can now ask for some BelBul, its new umbrella name.

Over the years, Belgium has gained experience in viticulture and has produced some bubbles to be proud of, product that can more than stand its ground against champagne, cava and prosecco. High time, then, that such a product gets its own distinctive name. Enter: BelBul. The Belgian expertise will finally have a name and face.
The name is a contraction of Belgium (but also belletjes, the Dutch word for bubbles) and Bulles (the French word for bubbles). From Flemish sparkling wine to crémant de Wallonie, all of this Belgian richness will now carry one label, because as we Belgians say, there is strength in unity.
Not just any sparkling wine will do, mind you. A quality label requires some specific criteria: they must be produced using traditional methods, have the requisite characteristics as specified by the regions where they’re produced, be accredited by a committee, be 100% Belgian and produced by a Belgian family business.
Remember to enjoy your BelBul responsibly!
