At the World Beer Awards 2016 Belgium walked away with four of the eight main awards. In doing so, Belgium more than lived up to its reputation of best beer country.

With four of the eight main awards, Belgium was the biggest winner at the World Beer Awards 2016, an annual international competition for the world's best beers. 'Affligem Blond' received the prize for best blond beer, while 'Rodenbach Caractere Rouge' proved to be the best flavoured beer. 'Oud Beersel Oude Gueuze' was named the best sour beer and 'St-Feuillien Grisette Blonde Sans Gluten Bio' the best speciality beer.

The Belgian breweries in the regional subcategories also received several awards. A jury of international experts thus confirmed Belgium's reputation as the world’s best beer country. Every year, Belgian beers are at the top of the international rankings. In 2014 the jury of the World Beer Awards named 'Tongerlo Blond' that year's best beer in the world.
