And the best ice cream maker is…

31/03/2026

Look no further for the best ice cream in the world. It’s officially in Brussels.

It might sound like a childhood dream: to be the ice cream making world champion. The ladies and gentlemen of the jury at the Gelato Festival World Masters have reached a verdict, and Belgian champion Christian Wu trumped the most skilled ice cream slingers in the world in Las Vegas.

Wu designed a daring combination called “Il Bosco dei cento Acri” – the Thousand Acre Wood, an ode to Winnie the Pooh. And what did Pooh Bear inspire? “Ice cream with forest honey, infused with pine trees and small pine cones, a porcini mushroom crumble, and a sauce of forest honey and lemon.”

Wu’s gelateria is situated in both Ixelles and Jette, two municipalities of Brussels. He was not the only master operating out of Belgium: Fabio Marasti’s “Nessun Dorma” ice cream (olive oil gelato infused with rosemary and lemon with lemon crumble and sorrento lemon gel) received a special recognition as well.

Congratulations to our Belgian gelato masters. We’ll certainly be queueing up to get a taste of the Thousand Acre Woods.
