A pair of young twenty-somethings with wealthy parents appear to be having the summer of their lives in the chic seaside resort of Knokke, on the Belgian coast. Young people in Belgium and the Netherlands were the first to be hooked on Knokke Off, now the whole world is talking about the series, under its English-language title High Tides.

Louise Basteyns and Alexandre Vandael, two of the main characters, have grown up in an amoral family. Together with their peers, they dive into the luxurious nightlife of hip Knokke. Their parents have high expectations for them, which they are unable to fulfil. The two hopelessly search for true friendship, love and their own identity. The intrigues of other individuals don't make their search any easier.

Material enough for the first successful series of ten episodes. The second season has just been released. According to the study service of the Flemish Radio and Television Broadcasting Organisation (VRT), both older and younger people have been won over by the series. Younger people like that the series has made it possible to talk about difficult themes such as love, relationships and drama, while older people enjoy the window into younger people's lives.

Knokke Off - or High Tides - was recently the 2nd most-watched series on Netflix in Germany, Spain, Argentina and Uruguay, and 3rd in Austria, 4th in Switzerland. It's in the top 10 in 43 countries, including France, Colombia, Kenya and Canada. It has been dubbed into English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Italian and Polish.
