Two Belgian restaurants are among the best in the world

Experts from the famous British magazine Restaurant have ranked two Belgian gastronomic establishments among the top 30 best restaurants in the world.

The 1,080 independent experts (chefs, specialised journalists, restaurant owners, etc.) who produce the influential The World's 50 Best Restaurants ranking have given their verdict. These gourmets, located in 27 regions around the world, with 40 voters per zone, could vote for 10 restaurants each. This very popular ranking comprises establishments in 24 countries on five continents. And two Belgian gastronomic landmarks are among the best rated among the award winners.

The Jane in Antwerp is ranked 23rd. It was ranked 66th in 2021 and has been steadily improving, as it was only 111th in 2019 (no ranking in 2020 due to the pandemic). Established in 2014 in the Haringrode district of Antwerp, the kitchen of this Michelin-starred restaurant is led by chef Nick Bril.

In 27th position, we find Hof van Cleve with chef Peter Goossens. This restaurant, which was awarded three Michelin stars in 2005, is located in Kruisem, East Flanders. This long-established institution has also made good progress, as it was ranked 36th in 2021.

At the top of the ranking, which celebrated its 20th anniversary this year, Geranium, led by chef Rasmus Kofoed in Copenhagen, was crowned "best restaurant in the world 2022". Central in Lima and Disfrutar in Barcelona completed the top 3.
